Other Notable Oregon Achievements
Oregon Sportsmen's Conservation Partnership Advocacy
NWTF is a member of the Oregon Sportsmen's Conservation Partnership advocating for scientific wildlife management and policy that supports hunting heritage. NWTF is actively working with the partnership to defeat legislation such as the proposal to criminalize hunting and fishing in the state, known as IP 28.
Sunflower Stewardship Project
NWTF completed 253 acres of mechanical thinning to remove invasive juniper to enhance sagebrush and bitterbrush habitat within the Sunflower Stewardship Project on the Ochoco National Forest.
Umpqua National Forest Stewardship Agreement
NWTF entered a new stewardship agreement on the Umpqua National Forest to implement post-fire oak woodland restoration and willow enhancement.
Youth and Hunters of Color Pheasant Hunt Support
The Oregon State Chapter contributed $1,034 for a Youth and Hunters of Color pheasant hunt on the EE Wilson Wildlife Area.
Hawks Project Forest Work
NWTF completed 305 acres of timber removal, 68 acres of hand thin and pile, and 251 acres of mastication on the Hawks Project on the Fremont-Winema National Forest.
Blue Mile Project Inventory and Delineation
NWTF completed the inventory and stand delineation of 2,100 acres on the Blue Mile project on the Fremont-Winema National Forest, setting the stage for treatment in the future.
National Hunting and Fishing Day Youth Pheasant Hunt
In celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day, 30 youth from the Coos Bay area had the opportunity to experience a weekend of pheasant hunting at the Coquille Wildlife Area. The event was hosted by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and sponsored by the NWTF Oregon Coastal Cutters Chapter.
